Over the years I have had many different vaccum cleaners. Like dirt devil, hoover, rainbow and filter queen to name a few. They all seemed to work OK when they were new, but they all would end up in the same place. The garbage. Rainbow and filter queen seemed to have pretty good longevity though. Recently I purchased a Kirby. It is expensive but well worth it. I really like the dry shampoo system. Being a single parent of two young boys, its very important for me to keep my floors and carpets as clean as possible. Kirby is way in front of the rest. I wish that I bought one long ago. And its guaranteed for life. So what vacuum cleaner works best for you?

Upright vacuum cleaner recommendations?

I am looking for a vacuum that is under $150 that is really good on hardwood floors and pet hair. I have a few area rugs, but mostly hardwood floors. Can any of you recommend a really good one? My vacuum was a Dirt Devil, which wasn’t that great to begin with. But it finally died today. I think the cat hair was too much for it. I recently got a cat and he sheds like crazy, so I need one that’s really good with pet hair as well. Thanks.
